Provincial Priory of Middlesex
Provincial Prior’s Welcome
It is with the greatest of pleasure that I welcome you to the website of the Provincial Priory of Middlesex which I hope you find interesting and helpful.
The full title of the Order is ‘The United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta in England and Wales and its Provinces overseas’. The Order is governed by Great Priory based at Mark Masons’ Hall in London. Members are commonly known as being a member of Knights Templar or K.T.
Mystery, legend and myth surround the Knights Templar of old although it is worth noting that our Order makes no claim to any direct link to the original Knights Templar. Nor to other so-called Knights Templar groups.
There are twelve Preceptories (masonic ‘units’) that form the Provincial Priory of Middlesex which meet at one or more of four masonic centres in Middlesex. Our ceremonies are very realistic and the regalia spectacular, being based upon that worn by the medieval knights. During the ceremony of Installation our candidates symbolically embark on a crusade, culminating with him being elevated to Knighthood. There are, in fact, two related degrees which are worked in our Preceptories. These are the Order of the Temple and the Order of Malta, hence the full title of our Order.
It is a pre-requisite for joining this Order that prospective candidates are both Craft and Royal Arch Masons and must profess the Christian Faith with a belief in the Holy Trinity.
Please enjoy our website and return to it regularly to keep yourself up-to-date with our meetings and social events. If you have any general enquires, please refer to our Contact section. However, should you wish to enquire about Joining please refer to our section entitled Want to Join?
